Watercolor Skills Workbook moves beyond the most basic techniques and helps those still relatively new to the medium of watercolor build the skills necessary for artistic creativity with over 55 projects and 150 colorful watercolors! Ten lessons are set out in three sections to take readers on a progressive artistic journey. Starting with "The Search for Realism," Anne provides guidance on portraying realistic scenes. Once readers are confident, they can move on to the next section, "Making Beautiful images," where they are shown how to create artistic compositions using the unique properties of watercolor. The Metropolitan Museum of Art began acquiring American drawings in 1880 and has since amassed a spectacular collection of more than 1,400 works in watercolor, pastel, ink, graphite, chalk, and charcoal. This beautifully produced catalogue, the first volume in a series devoted to the museum's rich holdings, presents works by artists born before 1835, including such great American artists as John Singleton Copley, Thomas Cole, George Inness, and James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
